Kozo Harvest - February 8, 2025, 11am - 1 pm

Join us for an off-site adventure in Fairmount park to gather this year’s supply of local Kozo. Paper mulberry grows invasively in Philadelphia and you can be a part of this year’s harvest of this beautiful local and sustainable fiber. Bring loppers or hedge clippers. We’ll be outdoors for multiple hours. Please dress appropriately.

Kozo Preparation - February 15, 2025, 11 am - 5 pm
$60 for 6 hour session
Learn about how kozo fiber is prepared for papermaking! Everyone will be helping to hand-process our kozo fiber. We will be stripping bark from steamed branches, scraping outer bark with a sharp knife, cleaning the fiber and beating it to a pulp.
Papermaking with Philly Kozo - February 22, 10 am - 1 pm or 2 pm - 5 pm
$115 for 3 hour session
In this one day paper making workshop, we will be utilizing our pulp that was prepared the previous week to get an introduction to the unique methods and materials of Eastern style hand papermaking, and how to form the diaphanous and STRONG sheets of paper made from this lustrous and local fiber.
* This will be a morning and afternoon session, there will be 3 slots for each session.
