Learn about traditional fibers and how to make Eastern and Western sheets of paper ideal for etching, letterpress, woodblock, and chine colle in week 1, and in week 2 spend time at Second State printing on your brand new papers!

Papermaking with Invasive Plants

Sunday June 11, 1pm – 5pm, 8 students, $75

Learn the process of making paper by hand working with invasive plants growing in urban Philadelphia, such as mugwort, bittersweet, and mulberry. We will identify and collect specimens of various invasive plants suitable for papermaking, learn how to process the fiber, and the distinct properties each plant imparts to its finished paper.
